Winter Checklist...

With the changing of the season, we know winter is upon us, plenty of freezing temps await. Let’s discuss a few tips that will help your plumbing survive this winter.

1. Unhook your garden hose from your hose bib so it can drain, if it is leaking call us for repair.

2. Seal any openings or cracks leading to your basement or crawlspace. To look for leaks and cracks, go in your basement or crawlspace on a bright sunny day and turn off all the lights. If you see the sun getting in, then old man winter can get in, and it should be sealed.

3. If you have heat tape on any piping ensure that it is working and that the receptacle it is plugged into is good and has power.

4. Know where your main water shut off is in case of an emergency. Don’t rely on your family to know, take a minute find the main water shut off and educate the family so anyone can shut it off in an emergency and stop damage from getting worse.
